You'll take on the role of Billie Lurk in the standalone release of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. The game isn't a DLC pack or an expansion for Dishonored 2, and it will have its own campaign featuring all new powers and abilities.
Bethesda and Arkane Studios released the new trailer recently, following up on a separate video overview for Dishonored: Death of the Outsider featuring Arkane Studios' lead Harvey Smith talking about how players will take on the role of Billie Lurk, a character who has been present throughout the Dishonored franchise, and how they will have to seek out and kill the Outsider.
Billie doesn't retrieve her powers from the Outsider, though. Billie acquires her powers from gadgets and other alchemist means utilized within the Dunwall and Karneca regions.
The trailer above delves slightly deeper into what's revealed over on the official website regarding Lurk's mission, which involves infiltrating cults, fight clubs and other mysterious institutions around Karneca in an attempt to find ways to kill the Outsider.
The video starts with Billie leaping from the air, tackling a man and spearing him through the neck with a pointed object.
The duo plan on killing the Outsider, but in order to do so they have to fight through the cults and mysticists occupying the city. This tidbit of lore stretches back to the original Dishonored, so players will likely learn a lot more about how the magic, the powers, and the special abilities work within the game's world.
The trailer reveals Billie and Daud attempting to get their hands on a special weapon in order to reach the Outsider, who -- much like his name -- resides outside the standard boundaries of time, reality and space.
Players will have to venture into strange worlds, and fight through new groups introduced into the Dishonored universe, including the Immortal Envisioned, the Sisters of the Ocular Order, and an all new set of Clockwork soldiers.
The trailer doesn't give away too many details regarding the special powers and abilities at Billie's disposal, but it looks like she'll be able to use a lot of different skill sets not shared by Emily or Corvo from Dishonored 2. You can look for the game to arrive on PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting September 15th.
