Subscribe To Take-Two Nixes GTA 4 Delay Rumors Updates
Grand Theft Auto fans concerned over rumors of another delay to the release of the fourth installment in the series have had their fears laid to rest. In an interview with Gamespot on Friday, Take-Two Interactive chairman Strauss Zelnick stated that GTA 4 is still slated for the second quarter 2008. He still declined to name a specific release date, however.

“Obviously we want to make sure not to disappoint anyone, and we’re going to give that date as soon as we feel very comfortable that we know the exact date within that three-month period that we outlined,” Zelnick said. He also denied the rumor that Take-Two delayed the game on purpose in order to wait for a larger Playstation 3 player base after the console’s slow start in sales.

There’s a great deal of paranoia amongst fans of the franchise given the delay from the original release date of October 16. He inadvertently started a feeding frenzy in the media after he refused to name a new release date at a presentation at the 2007 BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Summit earlier in November. I can’t blame him for not wanting to set another exact date given all the drama that follows even a slight delay. Then again, who cares what fans think? We’re going to run out and buy the game in record numbers no matter when it’s released. I’d rather spend my time speculating on how they’ll revamp the prostitution system in the new installment.
