Eagle Dynamics announced that the Digital Combat Simulator for the P-51D Mustang will be arriving later this year exclusively for PC flight sim fans. The new aircraft in Eagle Dynamics' common era simulator will provide gamers with the classic Cadillac of the skies.
According to Blues, the news recently broke about the new plane making it into their renown combat simulation later this year...
The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics will release their next Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) aircraft in 2012: the legendary P-51D Mustang. The Mustang was among the best and most well-known fighters used by the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Possessing excellent range and manoeuvrability, the P-51 operated primarily as a long-range escort fighter and also as a ground attack fighter-bomber with bombs, rockets, and machine guns. The Mustang served in nearly every combat zone during WWII, and later fought in the Korean War.
The P-51 is probably the most popular plane from the World War II era, just as the Fokker Dr.1 Triplane is probably the most popular from World War I. Anyways, the classic fighter will become its own standalone in Eagle Dynamics long-running line of true-to-life aerial simulators for some of the latest, greatest, oldest and most unique flying machines ever used (or rarely used) on the battlefield.
If you've been craving a matchup with the P-51 against other planes in a realistic combat simulation environment well you'll soon have your chance to test your mettle in the iconic warplane.
