Blizzard Entertainment released Patch 1.0.6 for their action RPG Diablo 3 today. It's a small patch to correct minor issues. However, it will be followed closely by a more substantial update.

Patch 1.0.6 makes two fixes to the game. It prevents players from bypassing the one-second timer on trades. This timer prevents a player from changing trades at the last second and potentially scamming another player in the process. The patch also fixes a bug that caused the same item to drop for Barbarian players who equipped the Threatening Shout ability with the Grim Harvest rune.

The update won't greatly affect your gameplay. However, Blizzard says that it also contains data for upcoming improvements. These changes will involve logins and communication. That's all that Blizzard has divulged at this time, though.

Patch 1.0.7 is said to be a much larger update. It's said to have "much more than just bug fixes." Maybe we can expect some new features or content in that patch, then. Blizzard will talk more about 1.0.7 in the weeks ahead.

A small patch tends to invite snark. However, it's sort of good news in the case of D3. It means that we're one patch closer to Patch 1.1, which will add arena-based PvP to the game.
