Edge of Space, the emergent, space-survival game is nearing release and the team at HandyMan Studios has offered up gamers even more promising news as the latest beta goes live, featuring brand new armor sets, chests, weapons, Holopets and even improved graphics and texture effects.

First up, the weapon generation utility has been upgraded to include more variations of shotguns, rocket launchers, rifles, carbines and machine guns. No gun is too gunny for Edge of Space, and there's a nice cache and variety available for die-hard gun fanatics.

The other cool thing (even though technically everything about the game is cool, including flying laser sharks) is the overhaul in texture blending, shadowing and transparent tiles, giving gamers more of a variety to work with regarding the toolsets.

Additional storage facilities have also been added to the game, enabling players to construct or retrieve chests and keep additional items, crafting gear, armor sets and weapons in a safe place.

The addition of Holopets also adds an extra dynamic layer to the game, as players capture, raise and breed pets to do their bidding.

You know what would be really cool? If various armor sets were necessary for traversing through various areas. Like, only suits with a lava resistance affix can get through a lava planet, or a suit with cold resistance can get you through an ice planet.

Anyway, for now, the game is shaping up to be one of the coolest games to come out of 2013 and if you'd like to see this game on Steam be sure to show your support by visiting the official Steam Greenlight page and give Edge of Space an upvote or two.
