Interplay kept itself afloat during its lean periods by selling off the Fallout license to Bethesda Softworks for a few mil - but also retained the rights to make a massive multiplayer game based on the license. It seems they've started work on that MMO - they just announced that Chris Taylor, one of the designers on the original Fallout game, will be rejoining the company.

"Taylor will serve as Lead System Designer for “Project V13,” the working title of Interplay’s next generation Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMO) currently in development. Taylor joins other original Fallout team members on staff at Interplay’s internal game studio, which recently opened an office in Irvine, Calif," says the press release at Interplay's newly launched website. Presumably, "V13" is short for "Vault 13," the bomb shelter from the first Fallout game.

No clue what aspects of the original Fallout are the work of Taylor or the other unnamed veterans now working for Interplay on this MMO. Still, it does give the project the sheen of authenticity, which counts for something when you're working with an old franchise with a cult following.
