Five Nights At Freddy's Short Film Is Seriously Scary

Five Nights at Freddy's is turning into its own meta-culture. There are now people making tons of short films based on the horror property featuring killer animatronic puppets. Well, the latest short film based on Scott Cawthon's popular trilogy of games really nails the horror elements like few other short films before it.

YouTube outlet Typhoon Cinema and Deviant Picture Films put together a short film that could work just as well as a trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's. Check it out below.

The frightening looking animatronic you see in the video above is called Springtrap and it was one of the more prominent villains in the third game. The animations for the possessed puppet are superb and most people comment that the scene where Springtrap gets frustrated attempting to take the elevator up to the guard's room and has trouble hitting the elevator button was superbly executed. I tend to agree.

The responses to the video are probably the most noteworthy thing about it. Most of everyone dropping comments have noted that this should be what the Warner Bros movie based on Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's should be like.

Right now there's no way to know for sure what the movie is going to center on or how it's going to play out, but I'm sure a lot of fans can't wait to see Freddy and his friends storm the big screen, terrorizing night watchmen and scaring kids out of their seats.

The game itself has been somewhat of a phenomenon insofar that it centers around players being stuck in a security room to an old, outdated pizza parlor where animatronic puppets put on shows during the day for the kids. The first game centered around the night watchman having to keep an eye on the place for five nights as a summer vacation job. The second game saw the inclusion of more animatronics and more ways to defend against them while on the clock. The third game helped explain a bit more about the purple guy possessing the suits and terrorizing kids.

The story is kind of trippy but if handled properly it's easy to see how this could be turned into a new horror franchise. The Five Nights at Freddy's short film made above using Source Filmmaker is an impressive feat. I've had some real trouble getting things properly animated using the tools, but props to Typhoon Cinema and Deviant Pictures Films for being able to capture a lot of nuance in bringing Springtrap to life.

Many of the commenters on the YouTube page are begging for a full movie based on the short flick above, but I tend to doubt that's going to happen now that Warner Bros has a movie in the works centered around the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
