Game Crazy Survey Prepares Us For The Christmas Season

Using an interesting approach to determine the popularity of games and consoles, Game Crazy did a survey of boys and girls, ages 8 to 17 years, asking them what gaming items they were going to ask Santa for. The results, while typical, are much more palatable than the overwhelmingly dull sales lists and projection goals that you’d find in The Wall Street Journal, and also a nice pass right by the middle-aged middlemen who are not exactly on the pulse of children and teen interests.

The top five most wanted games in all age groups and consistent in both genders are Guitar Hero, Mario Party DS, Super Mario Galaxy, My Sims, and Halo 3. After this, the ages and genders split up a little, with 8 to 13 year old girls still wanting Nintendogs and Madden 08 joining in on boy’s list at the 11 to 17 years list. In addition to this, the most wanted console is the Nintendo Wii, which is at the top of the list in almost every age group.

The survey was conducted online by Weekly Reader Research with 1,000 male and female participants between the ages of 8 and 17, from August 17 to August 20, 2007.
