Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft players can earn a new reward soon. Blizzard plans to introduce a Fireside Friends card back next week.
The Fireside Friends card back can be earned starting on April 26th by playing three matches against players on the same subnet as you. There must be at least three players (including yourself) logged into the subnet. It doesn't matter whether they're on PC, Mac, or iPad. The card back will be awarded immediately after the third match.
The card back is a way to promote local gatherings of Hearthstone players, which Blizzard dubs "Fireside Gatherings."
"To find an official Hearthstone get-together in your area, visit the all-new Fireside Gatherings website here," Blizzard said. "These events are hosted in direct partnership with Blizzard Entertainment and are a great place to take your iPad and meet up with other Hearthstone-loving locals. To host these awesome events, we’ve partnered with colleges such as Brigham Young University Hawaii, University of California Irvine, University of North Texas, and University of North Carolina Charlotte!"
The Fireside Gatherings website also includes some helpful information on how to host your own event. You can also find templates for flyers advertising your event.
If you're not a social gamer, you can still earn the Fireside Friends back. Just use the Players Near Me feature in Hearthstone to find competitors on your subnet. The same rules for getting the back apply whether you're at a Gathering or using the Players Near Me feature.
The card back will only be available for a limited time. Blizzard hasn't announced when they'll stop offering this reward to players, though.
There are two other alternate card backs available to Hearthstone players. Both can be earned through Ranked matches since April 1st, the start of Season One. You'll receive them by reaching Rank 0 or Rank 20.
Hearthstone launched worldwide on the iPad earlier this week. The iPad edition supports matchmaking with the PC and Mac versions. Players' cards and progress carry over between the different platforms.
