Close to a 1,000 players signed up to participate in the Just Cause 2 multiplayer beta. New videos surfaced from a few different players gauging their experience with the multiplayer beta. The videos are chock full of mayhem and the accompanying music just makes it that much better.
The Just Cause 2 MP Beta is a modding project from a small group who decided to add multiplayer to Avalanche Studios' open-world action-romp. The original game didn't ship with a multiplayer because Avalanche wanted to focus solely on the single-player experience and bringing the world to life with the player being the center focus of chaos and destruction, as mentioned in the interview with Eurogamer.
The multiplayer beta for Just Cause 2 in the first video has more an estimated 600 concurrent player count, but that's just an approximation. Others have reported a figure closer to the 1,000 mark, so we'll just have to take the internet's word for it, eh? Check out the videos below, courtesy of PCGamer.
The Just Cause 2 multiplayer beta does sport a few restrictions, however. One thing you may have noticed missing from the videos are pedestrians and enemies. That's right, enemy AI and friendly AI are nowhere to be seen. Such a shame, but that is the price you pay for multiplayer freedom. Another thing is that since the AI is about as absent as a lot of fathers in the home (props to dads who still take care of their kids) it means that there's no way to carry out any of the missions in multiplayer as well. So generally you're stuck with a giant sandbox of multiplayer chaos. It's cool if that's your sort of thing.
