It feels like I can't go two weeks these days without writing a story about Marvel Heroes receiving one update or another. And for those of you who have been playing the free-to-play, super-charged beat-em-up, you know that's far from a complaint. This latest Update 2.1 is called Siege, and it increases the content in the recently added Asgard level, as well as makes Ghost Rider a playable character.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Marvel Heroes is an online f2p game wherein players take control of various legendary superheroes, like Wolverine, Spider-Man and Iron Man, as well as a villain or two, like Loki, and plow through an MMO universe full of baddies to bash, missions to tackle and a ridiculous amount of loot to gather. Each character can be leveled up and outfitted individually, and players can easily swap between their favorite fighters on the fly.
“Players can choose to wear costumes from over 70 years of Marvel history, including costumes from Marvel's recent theatrical blockbusters,” reads a statement from publisher Gazillion Entertainment. “Set across diverse locations from the Marvel Universe, Marvel Heroes offers fast-paced, action-packed gameplay.”
Currently available for download on PC and in development for you Mac heroes in the audience, Marvel Heroes has already offered a handful of updates and enhancements in the months its been available to the public, taking players to new locations, like Asgard, as well as bolstering the game's already impressive roster with new heroes to control like Gambit. Now the realm of Asgard is about to become bigger than ever before, giving players a whole new way to experience the game.
“After opening a new realm to players with last month's Game Update 2.0-Asgard, Gazillion Entertainment's Marvel Heroes is raising the stakes again today with enormous battle zones raging across Asgard in Game Update 2.1-Siege,” reads the statement from Gazillion. “In addition to new zones, Ghost Rider has joined Marvel Heroes as the latest playable hero on the extensive roster of fan-favorite Marvel superheroes.”
Siege is free, and includes new public combat zones, boss battles, enemies, story missions and more. You can battle it out with Loki in Odin's Throne Room or take on Malekith and his army as they try to lay siege (get it!?) to Asgard. As always, the new bits of story will be played out in fully voiced motion comics, expanding the game's universe even further as Gazillion prepares yet another update for release in the coming weeks.
Finally, how cool is it that the Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider is finally getting his turn in the spotlight, complete with his trademark bike, his mystical chains and enough hellfire to burn even the baddest of dark elves to a crisp.
If you haven't gotten in on the action yet, head on over to the Marvel Heroes official website, download the game and get to playing.
