Nexon America is phasing out the NX prepaid game cards and are instead replacing them with the Karma Koins. While the company shared great success with retailers nationwide using the Nexon Game Cards, with more than 5 million sold throughout 2009 and 2010, Nexon America has decided to move forward with a variety of new prepaid amounts for the Karma Koins.
Nexon announced that they wanted to replace the NX cards at retailers with Karma Koins for a more safe and secure method of allowing consumers to purchase prepaid amounts of digital cash to spend in Nexon’s cash shops.
As stated in the press release…
Nexon developed the Karma Koin program as a payment platform for other online game developers and merchants who are seeking a secure, widely-distributed way of providing users a way to safely make online transactions. Additionally, this will allow game companies to enter other territories, such as countries in Latin America, where credit card use is not as common as it is in North America.
There’s also a brand new website available providing gamers with information and locations where you can pick up $10, $25 and $50 Karma Koin cards. I don’t know about anyone else but that sounds very similar to caramel corn.
You can learn more about Karma Koins -- which are available at 7/11s, GameStops, and just about every other major quickie-stop and video game retailer across the country -- by visiting the Official Website.
