Maxis is getting ready to hold another beta test for their new SimCity. If you're interested in trying out the city management sim, you can sign up for consideration now.

Closed Beta 2 will launch on Saturday, February 16th at 6AM PST. You won't have long to play. The beta will end on 6AM PST on the following day. Maxis says that the beta is only 24 hours because the point is to test the game servers.

You can sign up at SimCity's website for a chance at the beta. You'll have to register by 6AM PST on February 11th. If you've already registered, you don't need to be registered again.

Selected testers will receive an email on February 16th with a beta key and instructions on how to redeem them. Only a small number of players will be chosen, though, so don't get your hopes up. Players chosen for the first test won't automatically get access. The test supports multiple languages but is for PC only. If you want a guaranteed spot in the beta, you'll have to pre-order through Origin.

The beta allows players to try out a small portion of the full game. First, they'll be able to play through the tutorial and learn the ropes. Then they'll have an hour to construct their own city. You can create as mny cities as you want, complete with public transportation, multiple power options, and other basic services. Beta 2 has an updated build based on feedback from the first beta.

SimCity will officially launch on PC and Mac in early March.
