A solar empire can only go without fresh sin for so long, which is why Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion's latest DLC, Forbidden Worlds, has now been given a June 5 release date. My understanding is that players will finally have access to gluttony and lust.
Actually, I'm reading over this press release here and boy-howdy did I misinterpret that game's name. It turns out that Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is less about spreading the seven deadly no-nos to alien races and more about expanding your civilization into the stars through strategy-based warfare and politics. That being the case, I'm willing to be at least some sort of sinning is still going on behind the scenes. I'm pretty sure genocide is still on the naughty list, even if it's an alien race we're talking about.
Now that we know the game's Forbidden Worlds DLC will be arriving in just a fewweeks, let's dig into what content, exactly, you'll be getting for $4.99. Put briefly, you can expect new planet types to explore and utilize, new planet specializations, technologies, planetary bonuses and, if you're playing on Steam, new Steam achievements.
“The war between the loyalists and the rebels within the TEC, Advent and Vasari, continues within the depths of Trader Space,” reads a statement from the developer concerning the new story elements of the Forbidden Worlds DLC. “Yet, this sector of the galaxy has far more worlds and history than any of the factions are aware. The need to survive forces each to expand into the unknown, discovering worlds of hazard, wealth, risk and mystery. Most ominously, the Trader factions have been loathe to expand to these worlds due to the dark myths that surround them.”
So, yeah, some ancient evil likely exists within this space trading desert and if you and your cohorts aren't careful, it's going to awaken and make life much, much more difficult for you.
