inXile Entertainment released the first screenshot from Torment: Tides of Numenera. The screenshot shows the Bloom, one of the regions players will explore in this isometric RPG.
Tides of Numenera is being developed by many of the team members from the D&D RPG Planescape: Torment. inXile is billing Tides as a spiritual successor to Planescape. Players can expect a narrative-driven experience, colorful companions and a surreal setting.
As the concept on the game's Kickstarter page shows, the Bloom is just one of many lands that the player will explore. The setting of Numenera is called the Ninth World. This medieval fantasy realm features vestiges of each of the eight worlds that came before it: massive machines, floating cities, moons made of flesh and more.
Like inXile's Wasteland 2, Tides was warmly received on Kickstarter. The game hit its $900,000 fundraising goal in in a few hours. To date, fans have donated over $3.2 million.
The Kickstarter campaign for Tides will end in 4 days. The game has an estimated December 2014 launch date for PC, Mac and Linux.
