War Of The Roses Announced, Puts Players In Gritty 15th Century England

Paradox Interactive and Fatshark Studios are hard at work on a new melee-based, team-multiplayer, medieval war game called War of the Roses, which is due out next year for PC. The game is being designed from the same fellows who brought you the popular indie multiplayer shooter, Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West.
Gordon Van Dyke, Senior Producer for Paradox Interactive commented in the announcement, saying…
"War of the Roses will give players face-to-face melee combat they rarely see in today’s third-person and first-person online shooters,"… . "We’re looking to steep players in that savagery, and challenge them to confront their opponents head-on in this unique multiplayer game."
An announcement trailer was also let loose to give gamers a small taste of what’s in store. Check it out below.
The game will sport a full single-player campaign, complete with character progression and unlocks, as well as a robust multiplayer feature to really help players sink their teeth into the combat. I’m really hoping the melee is more visceral and gritty and gets players up in the action, as opposed to a lot of games where you’re just sort of running around rapidly tapping your action button to hack and slash through opponents.
We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on any news regarding this game, but feel free to learn more by heading on over to the Official War of the Roses Website.
