Here's the thing, a lot of gamers were curious about The War Z because many felt it may be somewhat of a ripoff of the Arma II mod, DayZ. Well, a new walkthrough video has surfaced from PAX Prime to give gamers a clear impression of what the game does differently and what it does the same as DayZ.

First up, the shooting mechanics look like standard-fare FPS stuff. That's not a bad thing for people who want a more traditional shooting approach to handling zombies. Some of you may have noticed that in a game like DayZ, the shooting can be somewhat cumbersome and unreliable, which is probably what adds a bit of tension to the overall experience. In The War Z the shooting mechanics are a lot cleaner and traditional, like Left 4 Dead.

As you'll see in the video below, there is still health, food and water meters. You'll still have to maintain a measure of survival in the harsh, harsh world. One of the differentiating factors, however, is that items are highlighted in The War Z as opposed to DayZ, so newbies will have an easier time scavenging. You can check it out for yourself in the video below.

For me, the game looks mostly like a slowed down version of Left 4 Dead. That's certainly not a bad thing and I suppose the game could be used as a stepping stone for people who aren't quite ready to make the leap into the complicated and oftentimes unforgiving nature of DayZ.

The game, as indicated in the video above, is still in alpha stages. You can pre-order to gain early access to the closed beta or learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
