So, you just took out three enemies in a row and barely rolled/flew out of the killing fields in one piece. It was an amazing run and you wish you could have shared it with the entire world, right? Well, Wargaming now has you covered, announcing Twitch streaming integration for its two mega-hit free-to-play battle games, World of Tanks and World of Warplanes.
Back in my day, the only way you had to let people enjoy your gaming exploits was to either have them sitting in the room with you when it happened or through greatly embellished versions of said feats of greatness via word of mouth. You younguns today don't know how good you've got it, what with your streaming contraptions, goofballs and hoolahoops.
Now that easy-to-share goodness is coming to both World of Warplanes and World of Tanks with the launch of the Wargaming supported WG mod, which lets players beam their daring heroics direct to their Twitch feeds at the push of a single button.
According to the official announcement from Wargaming, streams from these games has doubled with the launch of the Twitch app, with viewership going up by 18 percent. That's a lot of people watching a lot of other people flying imaginary planes and piloting imaginary tanks.
“Wargaming has consistently created stellar content, which the Twitch community has embraced,” said Twitch Director of Business Development, Brooke Van Dusen. “As testament, World of Tanks has been regularly featured on our monthly list of top games, so this integration should help propel these titles even higher up the charts.”
Wargaming promises that the WG Stream mod was built with streaming vets and noobs alike in mind. You can assign hotkeys to your stream controls, as well as finagle a bunch of settings to optimize your stream quality. And, as with the World of... games themselves, you can expect even more features and tweaks coming down the pipeline.
“We are excited and proud to deliver WG Stream,” said Wargaming VP of Business Development, Mike Turner. “The ability to stream the explosive action of both titles to the legions of Twitch viewers is important to Wargaming. WG Stream gives our pilots and tankers the ability to broadcast their biggest victories to millions of viewers worldwide.”
You might get taste of some of the Streaming goodness on Wargaming's official Twitch channel, which may or may not be live while you're reading this, but it's available for viewing below.
But with the good comes the bad, too. Sure, you'll be able to share your best moments, but don't forget that every single little thing you do wrong, every minor questionable decision you make, every poorly orchestrated assault, will also be available for the world to view. But, yeah, you know, no pressure or anything.
