Watch Bombshell Make This In-Game Boss Chill Out In Latest Trailer

3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment have joined forces to bring another bad girl of gaming to life. Her name is Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, and her latest adventures are chronicled in this action-packed trailer for Bombshell.

Bombshell takes on what appears to be two ice boss creatures in the trailer, but it's actually just one: a Zeroth Guardian. In this video straight out of PAX, Bombshell is fighting the mammoth creatures who have a sword and a shield and are looking to put our heroine on ice. Using a deft combination of both offensive and defensive skills, Bombshell swiftly ensures a cold chill rips through the Zeroth Guardian, while showing off a few features we can expect to see in the game.

For a bit of background on Bombshell herself, Shelly Harrison took on that nickname after performing exceptionally well as a bomb technician in the Global Defense Force. After failing to disarm a bomb one fateful day, she lost both her squadmates and her right arm. She lost both her status and friends that day, and was ultimately charged with the catastrophe that would soon be known as The Washington Incident.

The isometric action role-playing game is a bit of a departure from what we're used to from either 3D Realms or Interceptor Entertainment, but I'm interested in seeing how it fares. Shelly herself has changed since the first time we saw her when the game was initially announced, but Bombshell as a whole looks like an engaging project, especially since it's not just another shooter with the same recycled environments and objectives. It's got an interesting color palette going for it as well, opting for brighter hues rather than the sand browns and rust reds we're ued to in other titles.

What's going to decide Bombshell's fate is whether or not it's easy to control, or fun to do so. It also might be a little frustrating to watch on-screen since Shelly herself is so small (might be better relegated to a computer instead) but from what I can tell, it's fast-paced, frenetic fun that I wish I were checking out at PAX this weekend, which sounds a whole lot better than lounging around at home, except I'm working on The Phantom Pain, and that's been a gamer's dream come true.

I'm eager to see more of Bombshell for sure, and Shelly herself. She's a real badass, and from what I've seen so far, the game looks like an awesome, raucous adventure. I'd love to get my hands on it soon for some impressions, but don't worry. As soon as I'm able to try it I'll get back to you with my thoughts.
