To celebrate the holiday season, Blizzard Entertainment has slashed prices on their MMORPG World of Warcraft. From now until Monday, December 19th, you can purchase the game and some of its optional premium content on the cheap through the Blizzard Store.

The World of Warcraft Battle Chest, which includes the base game, the Burning Crusade expansion, and a 256-page Beginner's Guide from Brady Games, now costs $4.99. The second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, has been marked down to $10. For $20 you can get Cataclysm, the third and latest expansion.

Two of the premium items are on sale as well. The Pandaren Monk in-game pet is $5 and the Celestial Steed mount is $10. By purchasing either item, you unlock it for all of the characters on your WoW account.

WoW's Patch 4.3, dubbed the "Hour of Twilight," went live last week. It's said to be the last major content update before the Mists of Pandaria expansion is released. Pandaria is expected sometime in 2012.
