World of Warcraft players will have to putz around in Dragon Soul for a couple more months. Mists of Pandaria, the latest expansion pack for the MMO, will be arriving on September 25th in several different flavors.
The standard edition will be available in digital form through the game's official website and on DVD-ROM through retailers. It will cost $39.99. If you opt for the digital version, you'll be able to pre-load the files prior to the game's launch.
The Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at $59.99, provides you with an Imperial Quilen flying mount and Lucky Quilen club pet. Like all premium mounts/pets, these should be unlocked for every character on your account. StarCraft 2 Battle.net portraits of Infested Orcs and Night Elf Templars will be also be included, along with a Pandaren Banner Sigil and Accent for Diablo 3. Pictures of these extras are below.
If you opt for the boxed or digital standard edition at launch, you'll be able to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition at any time by paying $20. In other words, you're going to be constantly confronted with a button that can instantly give you a new mount and pet. It's essentially turning the Digital Deluxe extras into an impulse buy. Rift did something similar and it's an idea worth copying.
Blizzard is also planning a boxed Collector's Edition. The $79.99 CE will have all the extras from the Digital Deluxe package. Buyers will get an artbook, behind-the-scenes DVD/Blu-ray, soundtrack CD and Chen Stormstout Mouse Pad as well.
Mists of Pandaria will launch in ten languages: English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, European Spanish, Korean, Russian, Traditional Chinese and Italian.
