The Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM beta has drawn to a close, meaning its time for all of you spiky-haired cardmasters to get in even more dueling as this Facebook exclusive makes the full shift to an official launch.
Retooling the Yu-Gi-Oh collectable card game's mechanics, BAM sees players utilizing a unique strategic grid system to match wits and armies of monsters in a fast-paced digital card battle. Basically, you play through the game's campaign to unlock new cards featuring all sorts of magical creatures and abilities. You can then use those cards to improve your deck to take on tougher AI opponents or challenge your Facebook friends.
Yu-Gi-Oh! originally gained fame in the early aughts as an anime centered around card duels that usually had the fate of the world hanging in the balance. The cartoon went on to generate additional spin-offs, video games and toys, just until it was milked as much as possible and then faded into the darkness, until now.
According to BAM's Facebook page, the game promises a “compelling storyline,” more than 300 cards to collect and master, and several tutorials for those who have absolutely no idea what the heck I'm actually talking about.
Being a Facebook game, I'm guessing it shouldn't take too long for the uninitiated to get the hang of BAM. The game even sports a nifty deck building feature, allowing complete customization for those more familiar with the trading card genre of games, or the ability to make the best possible deck from your current stash of cards, all with the press of a single button.
To see what the fuss is all about, feel free to swing by the Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM Facebook Page and take this free social game for a spin.
