We're barely two hours into the news that Peter Jackson will definitely be splitting his two Hobbit films into three, but already there's pretty good reason to believe we know the title of the brand-new third movie. Well, one of two titles, at least. At Fusible they've picked up on a series of domain registrations made through MarkMonitor, the company responsible for registering the sites TheHobbitThereandBackagain.com and TheHobbitAnUnexpectedJourney.com. Neither of those pages, it should be noted, direct to any official Hobbit pages, but MarkMonitor has as a client the Saul Zaentz Company, which is responsible for all licensing of J.R.R. Tolkien's work.

With all those disclaimers in place, here are the domains that caught Fusible's eye:

Hobbit fans will recognize both titles, as Riddles in the Dark is the title of a chapter in The Hobbit, while the Desolation of Smaug is the area of land that's been destroyed by the fierce, gold-hoarding dragon Smaug.

Are either of these guaranteed to be actual titles of the movie? No, not at all-- they could be registered for any number of reasons, from book tie-ins to online games, and with the announcement of the third movie so recent, I imagine it'll be a while before we know any titles for sure. But you can use this information to get your brain turning, and feel free to throw out your own appropriate titles-- you never know, Peter Jackson might be looking for ideas now that he's got a whole new movie on his hands.
