Since its debut in 2012, the Hotel Transylvania franchise has become one of the most popular animated properties, releasing a total of four films that were all major hits with audiences and critics alike, further propelling the careers of Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, and Adam Sandler. That being said, keeping track of all the different streaming services hosting the movies about a human falling in love with the daughter of Count Dracula at a resort for ghosts, ghouls, and monsters is a task that is easier said than done.
Fear not, vampire killer, er, lover, as we have put together a nifty guide so you can get caught up to speed on the Hotel Transylvania movies streaming, as well as the animated series you might have missed the first time around.
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
On the night he is to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez), with all sorts of spooky and kooky characters, Count Dracula (Adam Sandler) encounters the most terrifying one of all: a 21-year-old human named Jonathan “Johnny” Loughran (Andy Samberg) who falls in love with his only daughter. In Hotel Transylvania, the centuries-old vampire tries to find different ways to prevent the two lovebirds from living happily ever after.
Hotel Transylvania 2
Set years after Mavis and Johnny first fell in love, the 2015 sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 follows Drac as spends some quality time with his grandson, Dennis. Worried that his grandson is a “late fanger,” the immortal grandfather, and a group of his friends, take Dennis to their old summer camp, where they soon find out that a lot has changed in the centuries since they first attended Camp Winnepacaca in this trending Netflix title.
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018)
Depressed, lonely, and stressed out from years of running a hotel for monsters without a companion by his side, Count Dracula soon gets a new lease on life after boarding a cruise ship and meeting the woman of his dreams. There’s just one problem in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, and that is the fact his love interest, Ericka Van Helsing (Kathryn Hahn), is the great-granddaughter of his arch nemesis, Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan).
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022)
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, which was the first in the series to not only not feature Adam Sandler as the voice of Count Dracula but also forgo a traditional theatrical release, follows the monsters at the titular establishment as they are turned into humans, and humans into monsters. In a race against time, Drac, Johnny, Mavis, and the rest of the beloved characters introduced over the years attempt to find a way to get things back to “normal.”
Hotel Transylvania: The Series (2017)
Set years before the events of the first movie, Hotel Transylvania: The Series follows Mavis (voiced by Bryn McAuley) as she and her friends find themselves in all kids of misadventures when the head vampire in charge is out on a special trip.
Well, now that you know how to watch the Hotel Transylvania movies streaming, all there is left to do is sit down with the whole family and kick off a marathon of thrills, chills, and spills. And though the franchise has come to an end, there are still plenty of great upcoming titles on the 2022 movie schedule that everyone can enjoy, including ghosts, ghouls, and monsters.
