Filmmaker Taika Waititi has been on a serious roll lately, becoming a household name thanks to his acclaimed work in Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit —the latter of which earned him an Academy Award. Waititi is returning to the MCU with Thor: Love and Thunder, and recently took the time to address the movie’s A+ cast, as well as those pesky throuple rumors.

Rumors about Taika Waititi’s love life began back in May, when photos swirled around the internet of the filmmaker getting very cozy with actress Tessa Thompson and pop star Rita Ora. While many celebrities struggle with rumors about their personal life, Waititi has another perspective on those throuple rumors. When recently asked if the talk online bothered him, the multihyphenate said:

Not really. I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick. And also, ‘is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.

Well, there you have it. While being careful not to confirm or deny the reports about his possible connection with Tessa Thompson and Rita Ora, Taika Waititi revealed that he didn’t lose sleep over the headlines. Mainly because the internet was bound to latch onto another story before long.

Taika Waititi’s comments to the Sydney Morning Herald seemingly proves just how little those throuple rumors have affected him. The director-writer-actor was in the midst of filming Thor: Love and Thunder at the time, so his focus was elsewhere. And from what we’ve heard about the highly anticipated blockbuster, Waititi is throwing everything and the kitchen sink into Chris Hemsworth’s fourth solo flick.

Despite the rumors about being in a throuple, Taika Waititi seems confident in his professional and personal life. And consider how much fun he’s been having with Thor: Love and Thunder, this makes a great deal of sense.

Taika Waititi’s excitement over the mysterious Thor sequel is at least partly due to the stellar cast, including various celebs that will be making cameos. In the same interview, Waititi went on to explain his experience on the movie’s set down under, saying:

It’s quite amazing, just the amount of people that we’ve got. I kept looking around, or just looking back over the shoot, and thinking, ‘Oh my god…’

Indeed, Marvel fans are excited for the upcoming cast of Thor: Love and Thunder. Taika Waititi’s sophomore MCU entry will feature the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who will transform into Mighty Thor. There’s also an appearance by the Guardians of the Galaxy, and a number of other surprise cameos have already been seemingly spoiled as a result of set photos.

Luckily, our answers about Thor: Love and Thunder should hopefully be answered sooner rather than later. The movie is set to hit theaters next summer, so there’s no telling when official teases will start trickling out. After all, we saw Chris Hemsworth’s new costume thanks to the wrap photo posted by Taika Waititi himself.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set to arrive in theaters on May 6th, 2022. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
