Courteney Cox And David Arquette Amicable After Divorce

Courteney Cox and David Arquette have been estranged for so long, most of us probably already believed a divorce had been obtained. Unfortunately, that was not the case for the amicable couple, who filed to officially split in Los Angeles last Friday. It was Arquette who did the dirty deed, citing he would like to share custody with Cox of their eight-year-old daughter, Coco. Although sharing custody of a kid hopefully also comes with a civility caveat, paperwork is pretty final and it is only natural to worry the couple’s friendly demeanor together has only been pretense in recent days.

If anyone was worried a divorce might rock the seemingly unshakeable foundations of Cox and Arquette’s friendship, have no fear: the ex-couple got together early today to celebrate the Cougar Town star’s 48th birthday. According to TMZ the couple met for lunch in a restaurant in Malibu with Coco in tow. Sounds pretty amicable for a group in the throes of the really tough stuff.

Cox and Arquette initially split in October of 2010. In the past two years, the two have continued to be business partners, most recently selling the idea for a game show and a couple of comedy projects to the major networks. If they can maintain half as many of their efforts as a team post-separation, it looks like the two of them—and Coco—will be just fine.
