Halle Berry Set To Marry Olivier Martinez

After two failed marriages and another long-term, child-bearing relationship that ended, Halle Berry thought she was done walking down the aisle, but after her boyfriend surprised her with a marriage proposal, she immediately said yes. The man in question is forty-six year old actor Olivier Martinez, a Frenchman who was once considered a hot boxing prospect. After a car accident, he gave up on that goal and turned to acting where he’s made a fine living ever since. He first met Berry on the set of Dark Tide in 2010, and the pair began dating shortly thereafter.

According to US Weekly, the engagement happened over the holidays, and the ring he selected was a beautiful, one of a kind emerald and diamond combination made by Gurhan. No one’s snapped a picture of the rock just yet, but something tells me the world will get ample chance to see the ring on red carpets for the next few decades.

Both the future husband and wife have their own long lists of fellow celebrities they’ve been linked to. Berry was previously married to David Justice and Eric Bonet. She also had a child with Gabriel Aubry. Martinez has been publicly linked to Juliette Binoche, Kylie Minogue and Mira Sorvino among others.

Here’s to hoping the carousel of relationships permanently stops for both parties as they move forward and attempt to make things work as a couple. Getting married in your mid-40s might not be ideal, but people at that age usually have a better handle on exactly what they need in a partner. That experience should serve them well as they navigate parenthood and marriage.
