90 Day Fiance's Big Ed Has Surprising Response To All The Negative Internet Criticisms
Warning! The following contains spoilers for 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. Read at your own risk!
With just a few weeks left in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days, viewers may be wondering where the story will end with 54-year-old American Big Ed and his 23-year-old girlfriend from the Philippines, Rose. Some of that curiosity has been fueled by the couple's online presence and spiteful posts referencing each other, which has resulted in viewers taking sides over who may be more at fault if the two split.
As is the case with all internet discussions with two opposing viewpoints, things can get ugly quickly. It seems Ed has caught wind of some of the harsh criticisms about him, whether they be about his behavior on the show or other things regarding him. Surprisingly, Big Ed is taking the situation in stride and has announced on social media that upcoming merch he'll be selling will benefit organizations that work to fight against online bullying:
Big Ed didn't say whether or not he was specifically referring to himself when talking about all the online bullying he's tired of seeing, but it wouldn't be surprising if that were the case. The actual post in which he made the announcement had its share of nasty comments, with some referring to the 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days star as a "pig," and calling him the bully via his actions towards Rose on the show.
Big Ed's post also came days after a viral Reddit post on the 90 Day Fiancé subreddit, which alleged that Ed was guilty of "white saviorism." The post referred to the way Ed gifted Rose simple hygienic items, with the implication being she may not be familiar with what they are. The gestures deeply offended Rose, who later confronted Ed for some of the mean things he's said to her since they met up in the Philippines.
While it hasn't been explicitly confirmed by Rose or Big Ed, the general consensus online (which can be wrong) is that the two have split since 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days ended. Both appear to be back in their respective countries and have made some statements about each other without directly tagging or talking to one another. At this current point in the series, it's less surprising that this romance failed, though we'll have to wait and see whether either of these two are on board for another season if given the opportunity.
90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days airs on TLC Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Be sure to stick with CinemaBlend for all the latest news happening in television and movies.
