the kelly clarkson show

In recent weeks, Kelly Clarkson's personal life has been making headlines as much as her successful professional life. It was revealed earlier this month that the Grammy-winner had filed for divorce from husband (and manager) Brandon Blackstock after nearly seven years of marriage. Though they may be separated, the ongoing Voice coach didn't forget about Blackstock after she was announced as the winner of the Daytime Emmy Award for Entertainment Talk Show Host.

During the June 22 Daytime Emmys telecast, which was obviously filmed remotely, Kelly Clarkson metaphorically took home the gold for her charismatic and energetic work as host on The Kelly Clarkson Show. After getting the news, she took to social media to celebrate, and it wasn't long before she gave a kind shout out to her soon-to-be-ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who serves as a producer for the show. Check out the tweet below.

In regards to her NBCUniversal talk show, which debuted in September 2019, Kelly Clarkson's fans got to see Brandon Blackstock on occasion, such as when he and their kids sent her an adorable birthday video back in April, or when her kids interrupted her Trolls chat with Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. It definitely sounds like he played a major role in convincing her to go forward with hosting her own talk show, which she might not have said yes to otherwise.

Between filming seasons of The Voice and touring to promote her music, Kelly Clarkson would have been justified in not wanting to take on another huge undertaking like a daily talk show. But she did indeed take it, and her efforts have already been rewarded with her first Daytime Emmy Award as host. And while she obviously could have easily shared her appreciation for Blackstock in a private message or through texting, Clarkson gave him the kind of public acknowledgment that she might have put forth had she been giving a thank you speech on the grand stage.

Below, you can check out Kelly Clarkson's first tweet after her win was announced.

Kelly Clarkson's personal win wasn't the only trophy that The Kelly Clarkson Show won, either. It also topped fellow nominees in two other categories: Outstanding Lighting Direction and Outstanding Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design.

After the Daytime Emmys' Twitter account pointed out that Clarkson already has two of the necessary requirements for EGOT status – Emmys and Grammys – she humorously called out her Voice co-coach John Legend. Check out that message below:

Kelly Clarkson was clearly having a good time celebrating her victory, and hopefully those emotions will stay strong in the coming weeks and months on the road to finalizing her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. While neither one of them have come out and delivered exhaustive reasons for why they split, Clarkson had been vocal on her talk show and elsewhere about how much of a strain quarantining had been on her marriage and family life, and rumors appear to back that notion up. With no clear sign of when quarantining will end on a permanent basis, it doesn't appear as if any reconciliation will be likely.
