Why Didn't 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After's Tell All Give Fans Anything New With Part 1?

90 Day Fiance TLC

Warning! The following contains spoilers from the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Tell All Part 1. Read at your own risk!

The 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 5 tell-all episodes finally arrived, but so far, it hasn't exactly been worth the hype. Audiences that tuned in hoping to hear the juicy behind-the-scenes details of the cast's up-and-down experiences in Season 5 may have left disappointed, as little to no big updates came from any the couples on the situations they faced in any of the previous episodes.

Instead, viewers were treated to more of a "tell-the-same" regarding the drama between Andrei Castravet and Elizabeth "Libby" Potthast's family, which was seemingly put to bed at the season's end. However, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? felt the need to dredge that issue back up, even though it seems Andrei didn't have any scandalous reasons for exiting his home country. Considering this "second wedding" storyline had taken up so much of this season already, it wasn't enjoyable to sit through the same arguments between all parties involved, especially when nothing of value came from it.

That definitely wasn't a good way to kick off the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? tell-all, but I guess it did set the tone for what to expect from the rest of the night. Slowly but surely, each cast member got cycled through for conversations that essentially rehashed their respective storylines. There were plenty of insults thrown around, but very few revelations that expanded on the story or really gave audiences more context for how the storylines played out through the most recent season.

In fairness, there were plenty of hints for more excitement to come. Vanessa Guerra was teased to make an appearance in Part 2 of the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? tell-all to talk about her relationship with Colt Johnson, and there were plenty of foreshadowing concerning the issues that Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi have had since they got married.

As much of a silver lining as it was to see that Part 2 will be more revealing, my overall issue is that 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? essentially spent two hours of this tell-all filling time by recapping old drama and promoting more coming in the second part. It's a good way to get people invested, but also an instance where I wonder why this tell-all needed three different installments when the first part was so much filler. With the pandemic happening towards the end of this season, surely there should have been more to touch on in that regard! It's my hope the next two episodes will be more filled with information, and devoid of details that fans already knew going in.

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs on TLC Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more on the franchise, and for more news happening in television and movies.
