Of Course Kanye West Is Living In A Stadium While Finishing Album, But Check Out This 'Bedroom'

Love him or hate him, Kanye West is one of only a few modern-day artists that seek to defy labels, boxes and tradition. His vision is usually singular, whether it be through his music, clothing or political views. So it's not entirely unexpected that while he's finishing up the final touches on his tenth studio album, he's living in a stadium, and the “bedroom” is, well, very Kanye.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is where Kanye West has taken up residence and, as you can probably imagine, the options for living spaces aren't exactly glamorous. But that's apparently no matter for West, who’s busy with his long-awaited Donda album. On Instagram, the rapper posted a picture of his makeshift bedroom – complete with a twin bed, concrete walls, some sneakers and clothes. See the pic here:

For anyone else, Kanye West’s sparse bedroom at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium would be a no. There's not much personality in it nor much comfort – almost like a prison or a monk’s quarters. That is, if prisoners and monks had a few Yeezys to line up. But perhaps stripping himself of most material attachments helps West get the creative juices flowing for the new album.

The aesthetic of Kanye West’s living situation is pretty typical for him, though. His clothing line is notoriously bare and monochromatic. West also implemented the same approach to his former Hidden Hills mansion with Kim Kardashian. As was seen in Architectural Digest, the home is barren, stoic – closer to a church than a home, really. That was the former couple’s intention, too, with their designer Axel Vervoordt saying at the time:

Kanye and Kim wanted something totally new. We didn’t talk about decoration but a kind of philosophy about how we live now and how we will live in the future. We changed the house by purifying it, and we kept pushing to make it purer and purer.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium bedroom, if nothing else, could be interpreted as some kind of philosophy. The snapshot of the room is only one of a handful of posts on Kanye West’s newly revamped Instagram account. There was also a pic of the actual stadium, where West hosted his first Donda album listening party. Fans also had a few hilarious reactions to the realization that the lyrics reference Kim Kardashian and that Jay-Z was featured on at least one song.

Supposedly, though, Kim Kardashian had input on the new music about her in Kanye West's album. That might be surprising to some because of the two’s issues last year and their pending divorce. But Kardashian and West have reportedly been making an effort for some time now. Kardashian herself showed up to the listening party with one of her signature jaw-dropping outfits. (Not to mention it was color-coordinated with West’s outfit.) Moreover, Kardashian is the only person West is currently following on his new Instagram account.

Kanye West’s temporary living quarters probably aren't everyone's cup of tea. Heck, half the time Kanye West himself isn't everyone's cup of tea. But it is clear he still isn’t changing for anybody.

The Donda album is set to be released on August 5.
