Sid Meier's Civilization V will have Steamworks support for auto-updating, Steam Achievements, match-making, and other features. That's just one piece of the partnership between 2K Games and Valve on the upcoming empire building game.

A Digital Deluxe Edition of Civ V is now available for pre-order through Steam. The $60 deluxe edition comes with a (digital) copy of the game's soundtrack as well as a behind-the-scenes video. It also comes with a bonus civilization, Bablyon, led by Nebuchadnezzar II.

Pre-ordering either the standard or deluxe editions of the game will get you the Cradle of Civilization Map Pack: Mesopotamia for free. This map pack adds the "Cradle of Civiliation," which includes "the Fertile Crescent with the Nile River valley to the west and extending east down the Tigris and Euphrates river valleys to the Persian Gulf."

To celebrate all this Civilization-related news, Steam is offering a discount on Civilization IV and its expansions. You can pick up Civilization IV: The Complete Edition at a 75% discount starting today.
