Crysis Warhead Gets Release Date, Sys RequirementsAuthor: Pete Haas

Crysis Warhead, the Crysis expansion pack that will supposedly run on computers not forged by Techno-Gods, will be hitting stores on September 16th. To go along with the announcement, EA announced a few pre-order deals and a new trailer too.
Warhead is sort of like Half Life: Opposing Force - it's an expansion pack that takes place during the same timeframe as the original game, except from a different character's perspective. This time, you're in control of Psycho, the British member of the American super soldier squad who, come to think of it, wasn't all that psycho. Except for the fact that he's running around an island filled to the brim with North Korean soldiers and extraterrestrials - I guess that's pretty nuts of him. If you pre-order Warhead through the EA Store, you'll get it for $24.95 instead of $29.95. If you buy the expansion pack and the original Crysis together, you'll get an extra five bucks knocked off. It's worth noting, though, that the original game hasn't been optimized to run on a wider range of systems like Warhead has - make sure to check those system requirements before you buy both. Also, Warhead is a standalone expansion so you don't need Crysis installed for it to function (just sayin'). The system requirements for Warhead were also released today on the EA Store website: CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory Storage: 15GB Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible ODD: DVD-ROM OS: Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Vista DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10 From the looks of things, they're pretty similar to what the minimum requirements for Crysis were. Except running Warhead with a system of these specs won't be quite so choppy and ugly. That's the plan, anyway. Oh, and one more thing: a new trailer for Warhead will premiere this Friday on Gametrailers TV on Spike TV. As always, it will be available on the Gametrailers website immediately after the broadcast. |
