Hegemony Rome: Rise Of Caesar Dev Diary Covers Features, Innovations

published: 2012-01-27 15:11:51
Longbow Games released their first video developer diary discussing a lot of different topics concerning their upcoming strategy game, Hegemony Rome: Rise of Caesar. The video covers quite a bit about the game, ranging from graphics to real-time strategy warfare and even the domestic features of farming and politics.

Longbow obviously loves the era of the Roman Empire and it definitely seems to translate into the detail and features they implemented into the upcoming Hegemony Rome. The most impressive feature is the way farming and diplomacy is handled in real-time alongside all the war and fighting. There's no transitional period between the two instances, meaning that players will have to spend extra time making sure that their citizens are kept safe while enemies encroach upon the land.

You can see how it all plays out in the video developer diary below.

I guess it just shows that if you want real innovation you have to look to the independent community to provide it. I really like how they give gamers a nice, open world to explore and interact with as opposed to static, preset environmental square blocks on a grid that most other strategy games limit gamers to.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on additional information and features for Hegemony Rome: Rise of Caesar. In the meantime you can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
