How Do You Like Your Dark Templar?

published: 2009-01-08 21:46:15
Blizzard’s Starcraft 2 has had gamers drooling over every little picture and detail since it was officially announced in Korea in May 2007. Fans have been looking for anything to get them through the long months (and years apparently) of waiting and it looks like today Blizzard is ready to get them involved. No, it’s not a release date or demo or anything fun, but it lets you participate in the game's development.

Earlier today Blizzard propositioned their fans to help with a decision they just couldn’t make on their lonesome: how should the Dark Templar look? Now by simply going to the Starcraft 2 website, any old Joe can be a part of video game history by choosing the design of the new Dark Templar.

These bad-ass psionic warriors were first introduced as buildable units in the Starcraft expansion, Brood Wars and their never ending cloaking made them a favorite among asshole Protoss players. They’re back in full force in the sequel and you have two designs (or tribes, as them Blizzard folk like to call ‘em) to choose from. The first is the Lenassa Tribe which are the original design from the first Starcraft game. They look rather ninja-y and wield the standard warp blade. The second choice is the Zer’atal tribe who are new to the Starcraft universe. They wield sweet, Darth Maul-like double-sided warp blades and craft their armor from the bones of fallen Zerg. Hmm, tough decision…

Here's a link to the website so you can vote yourself. The polls are open for the entire month, so take your time and if you can’t decide, there’s always the third option for both designs. I’ve got to be honest, though, dual-sided blades and armor made from Zerg bones is pretty tough to beat.
