Metal Slug Rolls Onto Mobile Devices Today
In 1996, the over-the-top, bullet-riddled antics of Metal Slug delighted platforming shooter fans the world over. So long as they had a NeoGeo, that is. Since then, the legendary series has made its way onto just about every gaming platform known to man. Today, it's finally making the jump to Android and iOS devices.
In Metal Slug, players take on the role of soldiers who have been sent into combat zones to rid them of enemies. Despite the violence, the game takes a hard slant on humor, keeping things lighthearted as you blast your way through the enemy hordes while jumping between platforms, swapping out your weapons and occasionally piloting sweet tanks called Slugs.
If the thought of playing Metal Slug on your mobile device sounds like a good time, then you'll be happy to know that SNK Playmore USA isn't done with the series just yet.
“The Metal Slug series' original title, cherished by countless longtime fans, is now finally available for iPhone and Android devices,” reads an SNK press release. “Moreover, to respond to our faithful fans' demands, we have decided to release Metal Slug 2 and Metal Slug X in the near future, both of which are planned for release in the upcoming months.”
Along with being an “arcade perfect” port, Metal Slug for mobile will offer multiplayer via Bluetooth and online leaderboards. You can pick it up for $3.99 on iTunes or Google Play starting this afternoon.
