To commemorate the release of the new War Update for Team Fortress 2, Valve is going to make the game free-to-play this weekend. You'll be able to play the free game and its new content without paying a cent.

The War Update adds new maps, as well as unlockable weapons for the Soldier and Demoman classes. It's called the "War Update" because whichever class gets the most kills will earn an exclusive fourth weapon. As of last night, the Soldiers were ahead by about 130,000 kills.

The update and free weekend both begin on Thursday night. To ensure that you can play the free trial as soon as it begins, Valve is allowing players to download the necessary files in advance.
