The week-long war between the Soldier and Demoman classes in Team Fortress 2 is over. The scores have been tallied and the winner is the Soldier.

It was a surprisingly close race, with the final score being 6,406,065 to 6,372,979. As a reward for their victory, the Soldier will receive an exclusive item in the War update: the Gunboats. They're boots that reduce rocket jump damage greatly when equipped.

The War Update adds new Achievements and weapons for both classes as well as additional maps for everyone. It's live right now. To celebrate, Valve is holding a free play weekend.
