Wii gamers will soon be able to download one of the biggest RPG's from the SNES era. Chrono Trigger will be released through Virtual Console in North America on May 16th and cost 800 Wii Points.
Chrono Trigger was originally released back in 1995. While similar to other SquareSoft RPG's of that era like Final Fantasy VI, CT is often regarded as the best of the bunch due to its vivid characters and an epic time travel plot with multiple endings. Smaller features like combination attacks and the lack of random encounters were also very endearing to gamers. CT was re-released twice in the past, first for PSOne and then for the DS. These versions added animated cutscenes and other new features to the game. However, Square Enix confirmed to Shacknews that the Virtual Console re-release is a straight port of the SNES version. Square also plans to release CT through PSN. Sony's obviously got to get PSN back up before that can happen, though. |
