Is it weird Mira Sorvino won an Oscar and people still think of her as Romy from Romy And Micheleís High School Reunion? I donít think so, but then again, to me, Paul Newman will always be Reg from Slap Shot. You canít change how people perceive you. That being said, you can continue to take risky, challenging movies and hope your work will stand for itself.

According to Deadline, the former Woody Allen muse has agreed to star in indie director Nancy Savocaís upcoming Union Square. You may remember Savoca as a force behind the made for HBO movie If These Walls Could Talk that saw Demi Moore play a 1950s woman trying to get an abortion.

Union Square will follow two sisters, played by Sorvino and Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard, who reluctantly get together. One is ready to marry and one is ready for a nervous breakdown. No word yet on a possible budget or when filming might begin, but reasonable money would say low and soonish. Union Square has independent film written all over it, and unlike superhero movies and major, big budget sequels, the independent circuit tends to operate a little more closely to real time. Look for this in 2011, possibly on your OnDemand as a Same Day As Theaters selection.
