Hawaii Five-0 Is Getting A Crossover With Another CBS Drama

If you love CBS shows, you're about to get the joy of two shows in one episode. Hawaii Five-0 is going to crossover with another of the network's series. In just a few weeks, fans will be able to watch as characters from the popular cop drama make their way to freshman hit MacGyver.

MacGyver's March 10 episode will host the crossover, which will see Hawaii Five-0 stars Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park and Taylor Wiley make guest appearances on the show. The episode, which is currently being filmed in Atlanta and Oahu, will follow MacGyver and his team to Hawaii when they head to the big island in order to help with some earthquake relief efforts there. They'll end up partnering with Chin Ho Kelly and Kono Kalakaua to save a group of government scientists who've gotten stuck in a building that's very close to collapsing. As can be expected, the team is going to end up dealing with much more than they bargained for, since, while they're trying to complete the complicated rescue mission, they'll discover that a group of criminals is using the earthquake madness as cover for their plan to steal the weaponry those scientists were working on.

TV crossovers are all the rage nowadays, with several networks merging their hit shows to the ratings gold delight of fans everywhere. The CW has a yearly crossover event which features all of its DC shows, along with several smaller crossovers throughout each television season. NBC has had great success with crossovers in the shared universe of its Dick Wolf shows, and Fox even managed to crossover the very reality-based Bones with the fantastical Sleepy Hollow last season. So, even though this isn't being billed as a major event like most of those crossovers, it's no surprise that CBS would take advantage of the phenomenon. Hawaii Five-0 has crossed over with another CBS series previously. The show joined with NCIS: Los Angeles in 2012 for a two-episode crossover that took place across both shows.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the crossover between Hawaii Five-0, currently in its seventh season, and MacGyver was almost meant to be, especially since the two shows share an executive producer in Peter Lenkov, and he's always imagined that the shows took place in different corners of the same universe anyway. Back in November, he revealed that the shows had actively started to work out the logistics of the crossover, which would, understandably, be difficult to plan.

Well, there's no word right now as to whether or not we'll get any more crossovers between Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver, but this one sure sounds like it'll end up being exciting to watch. MacGyver airs Fridays on CBS at 8 p.m. EST. Be sure to check out our midseason premiere schedule to see what else you can watch in the meantime.
