Not too long ago, Ubisoft announced that they had two new sequels in the works: The Crew 2 and Far Cry 5. The newest game in the open-world action franchise will take place in a surprising location, one that a lot of people didn't expect to make it into a video game. Take a look at the teaser below to get the details on the first ever real-world location visited by the game.

That's right, as revealed in the teaser trailer above from the official Ubisoft YouTube channel, the latest entry in the long-running Far Cry franchise will take place in a real-world location within the United States for the very first time; Montana, to be exact.

The teaser starts with a man screaming and some birds flying away. We get some awesome shots of the beautiful Montana plains, along with a look at some of the mountain regions and forests. We then see a man running, with a bloodied shirt, through tall grass; his destination was unknown but it was obvious survival was on his mind.

We then get a shot of a church where the bell tolls for, what one would assume, would be the gathering of the congregation. "Amazing Grace" can be heard lowly in the background by church members. However, it turns out that the bell is being rung by a psychopath and he's using the head of his victim to ring the bell.

We then get the message about Far Cry 5 taking place in Hope County, Montana.

A string guitar melody plays while revealing that the full gameplay reveal trailer will take place on May 26th.

Some people originally thought that when information leaked about the next Far Cry taking place in the "West" they assumed it was going to be a westerner set during the Wild West, like Red Dead Redemption 2. This instantly spawned a lot of comments about how Ubisoft would tackle a game about the western frontier in America during that period. However, as the trailer reveals, taking place in the "West" meant the Western Hemisphere and more specifically, the western part of North America.

Setting the game in Montana opens up a lot of possibilities, especially if it's centered around the more open regions of the state. Based on the teaser trailer, it looks like the game could be about killer psychos hunting and killing people, not unlike the Jean-Claude Van Damme flick, Hard Target.

A game about surviving against a group of hunters could be cool if it's handled right. It instantly reminds me of Big Robot's Sir, You Are Being Hunted. While the whole religious undertone gives me the impression that it might be similar to Outlast 2.

Following up on Far Cry Primal, hopefully Ubisoft takes some actual risks and really tries something new with Far Cry 5 that isn't just a coat of new paint on an old concept. We'll definitely find out what they have in store come May 26th.
