If you've been keen on keeping track of the upcoming PC port of Namco Bandai's highly popular hard-as-nails action-RPG Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, then you'll probably be pleased to know that pre-orders for the game that guarantees your death are currently available.

Dark Souls is a typical medieval-fantasy action-RPG. The thing that makes it different from other action-RPGs is that it doesn't hold your hand and combat is merciless and unforgiving. You can die and you probably will die. You have to thread carefully and methodically through the dangerous world of Lodran where you will face off against larger-than-life bosses, mythical creatures and fearsome dragons.

PC gamers originally had to petition Namco Bandai to port Dark Souls over, and even when Namco obliged and said that the game would arrive this August, it did so with a number of complications including a little something-something called Game for Windows Live. If you didn't know, for a lot of PC games the only way to play a GFWL title is to get the pirated or cracked version because many gamers run into irrecoverable or game-breaking bugs, glitches and errors trying to play titles with GFWL.

Another setback was that the developers acknowledged that Dark Souls would not be optimized for PC and given their lack of knowledge for designing on a PC platform there could be some serious problems with running the game on PC.

Despite all the negativity surrounding this highly requested, niche-RPG, some gamers are still excited and for those of you excited enough to lay down some pre-order cash, you can do so right now from a digital distributor near you (which includes Steam). Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is scheduled to release on PC on August 24th. Need more info? Feel free to visit the Official Dark Souls Website.
