Let's hop in a time machine. Let's set the rotary dial on that ancient and old year of 2009 and let's hit the Way, Way, Back button. Cue dazzly hands. The year is now 2009, it's been a year after the economic apocalypse in 2008. People wear cut-off gloves, Justin Bieber is still figuring out puberty and poor people rule the streets. Most importantly, though, there is a game that was supposed to come to the market called Dizzel, a Gears of War-style third-person MMO shooter. It wasn't very popular and it wasn't highly advertised, but my goodness did a handful of select gamers really want to play it.

Sadly, Dizzel faded from view after being developed by Neowiz for hosting through the Pmang portal. It was as if the game disappeared off the face of the digital gaming planet, much like trip-hop stopped being cool after the 2000s really got into full swing. However, OGPlanet recently sent out word that Dizzel isn't as dead as we all thought. The game has been repacked, fixed and modified to fit the pay-to- oops, I mean, free-to-play nature of today's online-based third-person shooter genre.

As mentioned in the press release...
“Dizzel is a hardcore, action shooter developed by Neowiz Games and NS Studio. Set in the not too distant future, Dizzel features non-stop, heart-pumping action through a variety of unique maps and game modes. Resembling the third-person shooter style of Gears of War, Dizzel bolsters a variety of powerful weapons from assault rifles and shotguns to massive swords and axes to slay your enemies. Combined with a variety of unlockable skills and power ups, the bloodthirsty soldiers of Dizzel leave only a trail of carnage and bodies in their wake. “

All right, so there are too many words and not enough video. So let's change this up so you can see what Dizzel is all about.

Holy snaps that looks legit!

I didn't know about that robot boss mode thing. That must be new. It looks a heck of a lot like Warframe in that video. But don't be fooled into thinking that this is a melee focused game, because there's plenty of non-stop whack-a-mole style gunplay, just like the 'roided up mayhem from everyone's favorite football-players-versus-evil-aliens-in-space series.

The game features fatalities, wall-hugging for cover fire, blind-fire for players who suck at aiming, deathmatch, team deathmatch, demolition and boss modes, such as the Predator Mode, where players will play as the unstoppable cyborg ninja just like in the video above.

Beta sign-ups are currently open for the game, so if you're either too poor to buy an Xbox 360 for Gears of War or too proud to buy an RROD Toaster in the making, you can play this poor man's Gears of War clone for free from OG Planet.

There's another promo video below you can check out to help get you in the mood, because saying free-to-play probably brings out the kind of limp-donged mental state associated with most other free-to-play titles from Korea. But ignore the limb-donged free-to-play moniker and just keep thinking gory thoughts about Gears of War as you click through to the official website link.
