Good Old Games is hosting their summer sale and they're knocking prices off for up to 90% from the original purchase price. Even more than that, the more gamers spend on digital goods from GOG the more free games they receive just for buying games. How cool is that?

Over on the GOG site there's a brief news post explaining how the sale will commence and how many titles will be up for grabs.

There will be over a hundred games up for grabs at discounted prices every 12 hours for up to 90% off. You can earn up to three games for free just by buying games. GOG will send you an e-mail voucher with a redemption code for the game, even if you already own it. This means that if you get a game for free that you already bought from GOG before (or if you own it on Steam or Origin) you can gift the code to a friend and give them a DRM-free copy of the game.

To kick things off GOG is giving away SimCity 2000 for free, and you can get S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky for free people who spend $20 or more on games. The X-Com inspired turn-based strategy game Xenonauts is also up for grabs, for free, for people who spend $50 or more on GOG products.

The GOG.com summertime sale is set to go from June 3rd all the way up until June 21st, through the E3 festivities in Los Angeles, California. Gaming is really heating up this summer, eh?

You can find the games currently being discounted over on the GOG.com store page by checking on the “Discounted” tab from the pull-down menu. You'll see that there are some great games up for grabs, including System Shock 2, which is 85% off at the moment for a $1.49. Beyond Good & Evil is also available for 75% off for only $2.49, while more recent games like Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena are 80% off for only $2.99.

Scrolling through the list you'll see that there is a wide variety of games, from old FPS classics like Kingpin to point-and-click adventure games like The 7th Guest and the sequel The 11th Hour, both of which are available for 75% off for only $1.49.

One of my personal favorites, Omikron, is 66% off at the moment, available for $3.39. Other classics like the point-and-click adventure series The Legend of Kyrandia happens to be discounted by up to 75% as well, costing gamers only $1.49 per game.

Little known gems like Normality and old-school favorites like Wacky Wheels also make the cut; both titles are also 75% off and you can grab them for the low-low price of only $1.49.

Miscellaneous games like Costume Quest are part of the list, along with more action-oriented fanfare like Tomb Raider and Flatout. There are RPGs like the Risen series as well as action-RPGs like the Darksiders series.

Indies like Bastion and Jazzpunk are discounted, along with lesser known games like Crimzon Clover and Mind: Path of Thalamus. You can check out the full list of games available for discount during the GOG.com summer sale by paying a visit to the official website.
