Rockstar is asking PC gamers to make an official music video in GTA 5 for the music band Wavves. Gamers will create a music video for the song “Leave”, and will be entered into a contest to win a G910 Orion Spark gaming keyboard and a G510 Proteus Core gaming mouse.
Wavves and Rockstar will be going over the finalists together but there are a few rules for video makers and movie editors to consider before entering. Basically, your video must feature the song “Leave” by Wavves and only that song. The video has to be limited between 3 and 5 minutes. You have to submit the video and publish it on the Rockstar Games Social Club and it must be tagged “leave”. GTA V movie makers will have up until 11:59pm EST, June 8th, 2015 to submit their videos.
You can check out the song “Leave” with the embedded SoundCloud of the video below.
Now for the bad news.
One of the rules for the contest is that mods and third-party software is not allowed. Straight from the horse's mouth...
“The video must be made entirely using the Rockstar Editor. We know that many advanced Rockstar Editor video creators like to use additional third party editing software but in order to keep this competition fair for all entrants, we require that you only use the Rockstar Editor in producing the video.”
I wonder if anyone's going to do something like the Pet Shop Boys video that was put together for GTA V before the game even made it to PC? You can check out the music video below.
I guess that video above is proof that editors are capable of throwing together some amazing videos together for GTA V without the mods. Although, it would still be pretty cool if the third-party software would have been allowed.
Even still, if you aren't capable of putting together the biggest and best video that ends up earning you a free keyboard, mouse and having your video used as the official music video for Wavves' “Leave” you're still eligible for winning something just for trying. That's right, Rockstar is giving out a free unlockable t-shirt to everyone who participates in the contest.
The gamers with a penchant for editing together videos in GTA V will have their videos judged by late June. Videos will be judged based on the consideration of interpretation, entertainment or artistic value, editing quality and overall creativity.
If you think that you have a chance to win and your skills in editing GTA V videos is unparalleled you can enter now. To see what the competition is like and how well their videos are coming together, you can check out the Social Club contest page right here.
