Paradox Interactive announced that a new Europa Universalis is on the way. Europa Universalis 4, a grand strategy game, is due in the second half of 2013 on the PC.
Universalis 4, like other games in the series, tasks you with guiding a nation through history. In this particular game, you'll control a country from the end of the Middle Ages until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. You'll manage commerce, engage in diplomacy with fellow nations, and coordinate a war if need be.
It's been four years since the last new Universalis so Paradox has had plenty of time to come up with new and improved features. Expect an enhanced 3D map with seasons, a reworked trading system, and streamlined interfaces. Furthermore, players will have to react to a series of historical events appropriate to the era and their country.
Paradox plans to bring Europa Universalis 4 to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. This year's Gamescom will run from August 15th to 19th. Because the game's so far off, we shouldn't expect too much to be revealed, though.
