SNK Playmore has brought the brawl to PC with the official launch of The King of Fighters XIII Steam Edition. Now players can pick their favorite pugilists from the game's 36-character roster and duke it out, complete with improved netcode.

It's been a pretty busy month for The King of Fighters. We found out a little while back that KoF XIII would be making its way to steam and, just a few weeks ago, we also learned that SNK Playmore planned to have improved netcode for this latest version of the game. In short, that means the game's online features should be bigger, badder and faster than ever. As any fighting fan will tell you, a modern brawler is only as good as its netcode, so hearing about improvements is always a slice of good news.

More recently, The King of Fighters popped up in the news due to the series' most recent launch on Android devices, meaning that KoF fans can now tackle the competition on consoles, mobile and the PC.

With its Steam release, The King of Fighters XIII brings all of the familiar fiery kicking and punching to the PC. And, according to the publishers, that new netcode we've been talking so much about means that “players can now challenge other fighters from around the world in smooth online versus matches.”

A new Graphic Options feature also lets players fine-tune the game to their own PC's display and, as an added bonus, previously DLC-only characters Nests-style Kyo and Iori with the Power of Flames have been thrown in at no additional charge. That brings the roster up to a total of 36 fighters ready to throw down in the game's multitude of modes including three versus three, one on one, training, online, time attack and more.
