Ever since market research data became available indicating that the free-to-play MMO cash shop market would generate nearly twice as much money as Hollywood’s box office movies by 2015, a lot of publishers have been jumping onto the free-to-play bandwagon. Today, Paradox Interactive announced that they too have jumped onto the proverbial F2P bandwagon and have unveiled their 2011 line-up of free-to-play games.
Tom Söderlund, Project Lead for Paradox Connect commented in the press release, saying…
“By embracing games that take risks like permadeath in Salem and free collectibles in our online trading card games, we’re sure that Paradox is bringing something exciting and new to online gaming in 2011 and beyond.“Some of the games are standard-fare MMO bits and bytes, however the one game that really has my interest piqued is Gettysburg: Armored Warfare, which is an alternate reality of the American Civil War…and to that I say, FINALLY! That should be a really interesting game given that we don’t ever get first-person shooters set within that timeframe, much less one that also happens to be an MMO.
