R.I.P. EGM- Here's My Favorite Thing You've Ever Done...

Nerds everywhere are drying their eyes after hearing the devestating news that Electronic Gaming Monthly is no more. UGO Entertainment has bought up,,, and from Ziff Davis Media. Furthermore, print magazine EGM has been evaporated in the buyout, while more than 30 employees have seen layoffs from

Not to get emotional, but growing up, EGM was the only place I'd turn to for my gaming news and, in recent years, the highlight of my travels through airports. I guess I shouldn't get too upset because I was part of the problem, seeing as how I haven't had a subscription since I went to college. And maybe the mag wasn't as cool as it used to be...

But there was a time that EGM was the raddest shit around, no one could touch them. Specifically, it was around November 1997, when EGM published something that took alot of balls- and they caught hell for it from angry gamers for a long, long time. In their 100th issue, they put it upon themselves to name the 100 greatest games of all time. They tried again in January of 2002 in their 150th issue and with some shifting and a few additions the list is kind of similar. I won't give you both lists completely, but below are the top ten so you can compare and contrast. Call me a youngin but I kind of like the 2002 one better. So long EGM.
